Posted by admin on Mon, 01/21/2008 - 21:42

Mr. Harshavardhan is an Asha Fellow and IT & Social Networking activist from Mumbai, India. He is a IIT Bombay graduate and has been working full-time since 2003 in rural Maharashtra to bring all round development using IT & social networking concepts.

Harsha addressed a gathering arranged by Asha Seattle on Microsoft Campus on January 19th. Harsha was instrumental in creating online databases of villagers who are looking for employment, which thereby facilitated a much-needed transparency for government officials and enabled youth in villagers to work proactively with their village heads and authorities.

Harsha cited Hingoli, one of the most backward districts in Marathwada region of
Maharashtra, as a success story in taking a great step forward as people are holding
the inefficient and corrupt local government accountable during last
four months.
